Your donations will  help the poor to help themselves.  Here are the items most needed by families enrolled in the Savings Program and the donation requested :

 Tabitha is a sustainable non-profit organization with minimal overheads and running cost.  All funds are used to fund self-help programs focusing on personal and financial development. This is the perfect fundraising project for small groups such as a churches, scouts, brownies or a classroom.

EMPOWERMENT THROUGH SAVINGS

Tabitha works with the poorest members of the community, encouraging them to save and work their way out of poverty. Many poor Cambodians families have no house and virtually no possessions. Despite this, most generate a meager weekly income. Saving will enable them to start to make improvements in their lives without being subject to going further in debt by being unable to repay in times of distress.

Tabitha helps these families develop  a vision of a better  life and encourages them to join the Savings Program. Tabitha's Savings Program recognizes the inherent desire  of people to take control of their own lives , allowing them to decide their own needs (blankets, rice seed, schooling, building a business and later a house) and assisting them in achieving their goals . Joining the savings program is a giant step towards rebuilding trust ; Tabitha recognizes and rewards that trust in the form of payment of 10 percent interest on their savings. Tabitha places no stress or risk on a family by accepting and amount, no matter how small, allowing even the poorest to participate in the program.

RESULTS

Tabitha’s Savings Program results in a direct reduction of the physical and emotional abuse endemic in most poor Cambodian families. Discouragement and fatalism are replaced by accomplishment and hope. By rebuilding the family unit, in time you build a stronger community.v

You can become a partner with Tabitha by sponsoring families, thus enabling them to achieve their goals. It costs Tabitha Cambodia £37.50 to support each family throughout the 5 year program. This includes a portion of the salary of a development worker and the interest paid on the savings. All development workers are Cambodian.  Alternatively you can give a family  support  by helping  with a specific agricultural, equipment or educational item (as listed above).
